No AC in the winter

We would have saved enough to pay for it by summer, but the option to finance was much better than that

Not that it would matter, but last winter, we went the entire season without AC in our house. Towards the end of fall, our AC stopped working completely. We called the HVAC company and told them what was going on. I didn’t think that it would boil down to needing an entirely new cooling system but it turns out the AC was completely shot. We didn’t have the money to replace the AC, so we waited until the winter was over to reevaluate. There were a few times that I really wished we could have turned on the AC, but overall, it wasn’t that bad of an experience. We were able to get through the winter months by using a space heater and the wood burning fireplace. We weren’t that worried about it. The part that worried me was the upcoming summer. We looked into having the HVAC replaced in the winter for a better rate, but there wasn’t much of a difference. Our budget included saving up for the HVAC replacement, but we were still coming up short. We then learned that we would be able to finance for the replacement and that made us feel much better. We would have saved enough to pay for it by summer, but the option to finance was much better than that. We scheduled for the replacement to be done on a weekend that we were going to be out of town, that way we wouldn’t have to deal with the HVAC technicians coming in and out of the house. We trusted that the HVAC company would respect our home, and get the job done quicker without us being around.
