Our big farmhouse gets chilly during the winter months

I have always wanted to live in a farmhouse.

I know that it is sort of a huge thing right now, but I have loved the farmhouse style since I was a little girl.

My grandparents owned a farmhouse for my entire childhood, and it was my favorite place to go and play. I loved the pasture behind the house where my grandfather kept the cows and horses. It brought so much joy to me to sit by the old wood stove and read a book as well. I loved just about everything about that farmhouse. Sadly, it was torn down about ten years ago so that a railroad could pass through the area. I miss that old house so much. My husband surprised me with the best birthday present ever last year. He told me that he had found a farmhouse and had made an offer, and the offer was accepted. He took me to look at the house, and I fell in love at first sight. It was very similar to farmhouse that my grandparents owned years ago. We have been in the house for almost a year now, and I love it. The only thing that is hard for me to get used to is how cold it gets in certain parts of the house during the wintertime. The living room is where the wood stove is, so it stays nice and warm in there. The kitchen also stays nice and warm. Basically, the entire downstairs area stays warm except the laundry room. Our bedroom upstairs gets pretty chilly as well. I bought a space heater to use in our bedroom and in the laundry room, and it seems to help a lot.
